I met Marie Sophie \u00a0at night at three.<\/div>\n
In the deep darkness of a country road,<\/div>\n
she was waiting for us<\/div>\n
standing in front of the gate\u00a0of her home.<\/div>\n
Her figure was ethereal, illuminated by the headlights of the car.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Marie Sophie \u2019s house is exactly liker her,<\/div>\n
beautiful and unsettling.<\/div>\n
Normally, people choose houses without great imagination<\/div>\n
but in Marie Sophie \u00a0this choice was radical.<\/div>\n
A choice of freedom.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the morning I took a walk with her.<\/div>\n
There was a small river. I stopped.<\/div>\n
She was wearing a very long shirt, she was barefoot.<\/div>\n
She raised her shirt a little and entered the water.<\/div>\n
She told me that sometimes she washes herself like this.<\/div>\n
Unsettling.<\/div>\n

During a dinner where she taught me how to make cr\u00eapes,<\/div>\n
she showed me her collection of Adriano Celentano records.<\/div>\n
Marie Sophie \u00a0has the gift of simplicity, which is the root of her beauty.<\/div>\n
A simplicity sharpened like a knife. It cuts and divides.<\/div>\n

Marie Sophie \u00a0lives fashion like a punk lives the city: a mix of resigned need<\/div>\n
and desire to stay in it to be happy not to be part of it.<\/div>\n

Marie Sophie \u00a0pulls out the knife and separates fashion\u2019s past and present:<\/div>\n
there is no more imagination, no courage now<\/div>\n

Photographing Marie Sophie \u00a0is something special.<\/div>\n
Marie Sophie is not a model.<\/div>\n
She\u2019s the one who shapes the space, the relationship<\/div>\n
with photography.<\/div>\n
Photography itself becomes the model.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
When you frame Marie Sophie \u00a0in the camera lens<\/div>\n
you have this odd sort of paradox: there is never a moment exactly when to shoot.<\/div>\n
The relationship with time jams.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I leave Marie Sophie \u00a0with the image<\/div>\n
of her in the water, with her dogs on the shore,<\/div>\n
watching her.<\/div>\n
Protective and slightly restless.<\/div>\n
She loves them. She dedicates her life to them.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
She dives.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
For a moment she\u2019s hidden from view.<\/div>\n
Time stands still.<\/div>\n
And here is the shot.<\/div>\n
